To Stay Up For The Last 10 Nights Of Ramadhan. Its Sunnah!

Allah swt granted us a unique night in the sacred month of Ramadhan, Lailatul Qadr which is better than a thousand months, this night of power expected to fall on the last 10 nights of Ramadhan, Allah knows best.

Lailatul Qadr – the night of Power or the night of Decree, which is the much awaited night for all the Muslims of the world from the beginning of the month of Ramadhan, SubhanalLah.

Certainly this is a night which is full of Blessings and Barakah, this unique night must not to be missed at all!

Allah swt says about this night :

Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit (Jebril) descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace!… This until the rise of Morn! (Surah Al-Qadr)

There are so many hadiths RasulilLah (saw) about the importance of this blessed night, such as :

Allah’s beloved Messenger Nabi Muhammad (saw) reported to have said that :

  1. He who observed the fasts of Ramadan with faith and seeking reward (from Allah), all his previous sins would be forgiven, and he who observed prayer on Lailat-ul- Qadr with faith and seeking reward (from Allah), all his previous sins would be forgiven. (Hadiths Muthfaun alaihi)
  2. Look for Lailat-ul-Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan. (Hadits Muslim)
  3. Salim reported on the authority of his father that a person saw Lailat-ul- Qadr on the 27th (of Ramadan). Thereupon Allah’s Messenger said that : I see that your dreams agree regarding the last ten (nights of Ramadan). So seek it on an odd number (of these ten nights). (Sahih Muslim)
  4. Ibn Umar (r) reported as Allah’s Messenger (saw) saying : Seek it (Lailat-ul-Qadr) in the last (ten nights). If one among you shows slackness and weakness (in the earlier part of Ramadan), it should not be allowed to prevail upon him in the last week. (Sahih Muslim)
  5. Aishah (r) reported : I asked: “O Messenger of Allah! If I realize Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree), what should I supplicate in it?” He (saw) replied, “You should supplicate: “Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni (O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me).” (Tirmidzi)
  6. Aisha (r) reported: With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet (saw) used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work harder) and used to pray the whole night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers. (Sahih Bukhari)
  7. Abu Hurayrah (r) relates that the Prophet (saw) said: “Whoever stands (in the voluntary night prayer of) Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. And whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” [Sunan an-Nasa’i]

Our beloved prophet Muhammad (saw) taught all the importance of Lailathul Qadar to his (saw) family, encouraged them to wake up and perform extra ibadahs and increase righteous deeds during the last 10 blessed nights of Ramdhan.

May Allah give us the strength to wake up and perservere and do our utmost ibadah during this special and sacred nights of Ramdhan alkareem
inshaAllah…. ameeen
